Volunteer Firefighter Facts
The Faber Volunteer Fire Department, along with the majority of volunteer fire departments across the country, relies heavily on the community in which they serve for the monetary support needed to continue operating and responding to your calls for help. The Faber Volunteers are just that, unpaid volunteers. We donate our time, our money, and our resources to help maintain our fire station, our fire trucks, and various pieces of firefighting equipment needed to safely respond to your needs each and every day. We are on call 24x7 and stand ready to respond to whatever need may arise without being paid to do so.
According to the National Volunteer Fire Council, the cost to train and equip a new firefighter costs approximately $27,000, much of which has to be raised through local fundraising activities.
